Social Lead

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

The Social Lead is the day-to-day steward of Rise and Shine clients' brand presence on social — publishing, moderating, and showing up in real time across the platforms and communities that matter most to each brand. This person lives inside the brand's fandom and the broader social conversations happening around it, with an instinct for what audiences are talking about, sharing, and wanting from their feeds on any given day. Equal parts community manager and platform obsessive, the Social Lead knows how to personify a brand online — thinking and behaving like a creator to build authentic, ongoing relationships with fans, not just post content at them.

This role is built for someone who is chronically online in the best sense: endlessly curious about what makes people (and algorithms) tick, comfortable pulling and interpreting performance data, and skilled at translating “what's working” into “why it's working, and what we do next.”

Core Responsibilities

Community Management & Engagement

  • Own day-to-day publishing, moderation, and community management across assigned brand social channels.
  • Proactively engage in comments, DMs, and relevant conversations to build authentic connections with brand fans and audiences.
  • Monitor brand mentions, tags, and community sentiment in real time, escalating issues or opportunities as needed.
  • Personify brand voice and tone in every interaction, adapting naturally to each platform's culture and norms.

Audience & Platform Fluency

  • Stay immersed in the brand's fandom as well as the broader social and cultural conversations happening in its orbit.
  • Track what audiences and niche communities are talking about, sharing, and engaging with across platforms, and translate that into timely engagement and content opportunities.
  • Maintain a deep, current understanding of platform algorithms, features, and trends, and how they affect what content and engagement perform.
  • Identify emerging conversations, creators, and moments relevant to the brand and flag opportunities to participate authentically.

Performance & Insights

  • Extract, analyze, and synthesize social performance data across channels.
  • Communicate not just what is performing well, but why — connecting content, community, and platform behavior to results.
  • Use performance insights to inform day-to-day content, engagement, and community management decisions.
  • Maintain reporting rhythms that keep internal teams informed on community health and channel performance.

Collaboration & Craft

  • Partner with the Social Strategist (partner who leads holistic social strategy and social-first creative briefs) and Social Creator (partner who concepts, captures, and edits social-first content) to ensure community insight informs content and strategy, and vice versa.
  • Share real-time audience and platform learnings with the broader team to keep plans grounded in what's actually happening on social.
  • Bring a creator's instinct to the brand's presence, recognizing what feels authentic versus forced for each platform and community.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in social media management, community management, or a related discipline, with hands-on, direct ownership of brand channels.
  • Experience with native platform analytics and third-party social listening or reporting tools, and translating that data into clear takeaways for non-technical audiences.
  • A track record of building genuine online communities and fan relationships that go beyond one-off engagement.
  • Highly online and culturally plugged in, with an ongoing, genuine curiosity about platform trends, algorithm shifts, and audience behavior.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the range to shift voice and tone across platforms and brands.
  • Comfortable managing multiple channels, conversations, and priorities at once in a fast-moving, always-on environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

What we expect of each other

  • Embrace our company values by seeing challenges as opportunities, welcoming diverse ideas and perspectives, creating new futures, and celebrating our successes.

  • Accept direction openly and demonstrate a willingness to grow and learn.

  • Bring a positive, solution-oriented attitude to the office each day.
  • Mentor and support the growth of teammates who can benefit from our experience and perspective.
